Day 12: Wuxi to Nanjing

In Wuxi we took a boat ride on Lake Taihu.  After stopping in another Pearl Market we headed to Nanjing.  Nanjing literally means "Southern Capital" while Beijing means "Northern Capital".  Nanjing was the capital of China during various periods in its history.

Our ride around Lake Taihu

Don't worry, this was fake.

The water was green.

Kids playing around the lake.

A shrimp served head intact.

Immediately after stepping off the bus we went through the Nanjing Memorial Hall.  We were rushed through because they were about to close, but I was able to see enough to put me in a somber mood.  There was a message at the end of the memorial that meant "lets prevent war" and "Do you remember."

We couldn't take pictures inside the museum.

That night a few of us went to dinner with our guides Ever and Shiann. The place they chose was delicious!
